Educational Policies and Philosophy
The purpose of Noah's Ark is to share the precious love and forgiveness of Jesus with the children who attend the center and also with their families. Each child, parent/guardian, and staff member will be treated with the same love and respect that God has shown to each of us.
- Spiritual Development: We want the child to know that God created the world; that Jesus is God's Son; that God loves each child; and that Jesus is their friend.
- Social Development: We encourage children to develop the skills of respecting the rights of others. Inappropriate behavior, such as hitting, biting, or kicking, is not permissible. Each child is encouraged to express him/herself in words and feelings rather than these actions.
- Mental and Emotional Development: Teachers will help each child develop a positive self-concept about themselves and the ability to identify and express their emotions. We want each child to develop awareness that perfection is not necessary; each individual grows at different levels.
- Intellectual Development: Language skills and basic listening abilities are taught through music, story time, and puppets. The teacher provides opportunities for children to learn math concepts through daily activities. "Hands-on" activities are provided for developing discovery and reasoning skills.
Physical Development: Indoor/Outdoor play equipment is on-site to develop large motor skills. We also provide the opportunity for children to develop their large muscle coordination through running, skipping, jumping, and various other activities. Eye-hand coordination is incorporated into our classroom projects through manipulation of small toys, puzzles, scissor skills, and other activities. Children are encouraged to practice daily health and safety habits. Our approach to teaching allows each child to develop their individuality and creativity with Christian principles.
