Every small group has a Shepherd/Leader who guides the
group through a time of discussion. Each small
group has a number of options in which to study
from. There is offered a small group lesson called "Guidelines."
The Guidelines typically complement or build
on what we have heard preached in church the
preceding Sunday. Also available are a number
of study guides that deal with a particular subject
matter or a particular study focusing on a book
in the Bible. In addition to the Shepherd/Leader,
each small group is hosted by a person or couple
who serves as host(s). There are always light
refreshments served at the end and a time of
fellowship to stay in touch personally with others
in the group.
Small Groups are a great place to train potential leaders.
They potential leaders assist the leaders in
all of the activities of the group. Often these
are among the most rapidly growing members, because
they are building people skills, acquiring leadership
talents, and growing in their faith.
Small groups do not normally meet in December and often
take a break through the summer, though the group
will have social events in those months and invite
friends as a means of reaching out to others.
